100 YEARS OLD! 1914-2014

Since it is the church's anniversary this year, I thought I would give a little blurb each month about the church's history.

1914-2014

It started as an evangelical ministry among the Norwegians of Canada.  Prior to the start of the church, M.A. Meyer went in the fall of 1912 to Minneapolis and attended the Norwegian Baptist Conference presenting this need.  Rev. K. Larsen visited Winnipeg in April 1914 to investigate the possibility of starting this work.  A few Norwegians and Danish Baptists living in Winnipeg met with Rev. K. Larsen at the home of Mr. Meyer and decided to organize a church. There were two people at this meeting willing to be baptized and join the church.  On April 28, 1914 was the first baptismal service conducted by Norwegian Baptist Work in 

Canada.

Did you know that the library still has a Norwegian Bible?  It was one of the first entries when the library opened?

Did you know the single biggest factor that can make a difference to your child's schooling is READING!  Read to your child everyday from the time he is young until he/she really does not want you to read to them.

What can I read?  Find things that interest them and read.

What does our library have that I can read to them?

We have many Max Lucado books that are great to read together and are great discussion starter for middle graders.

This book is suited to two or three year olds in the same style as Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you See? 

When our children were quite young.  Riley was probably 4 years old.  Alan started reading the Narnia series to them.  Although it was not as regular as he would have liked, the children thought it was very special that their Dad would read to them.  Why not start a tradition of Dad reading a special book to the kids?
